"I am Joel Canela, an ISSA certified Master Trainer, specializing in strength and conditioning, glute training, and calisthenics. My expertise is enriched by my experiences living in Madrid and traveling the world to study various classes. Featured on ABC7 NYC Calisthenics Kings, I attribute much of my unique training style to my upbringing in Washington Heights. The main reason I am passionate about fitness is that my mother had heart surgery when I was nine years old. This event profoundly impacted my view on health and fitness. Many of my family members suffer from comorbid diseases, and I am determined not to follow that path. This determination drives me to preach the importance of health to everyone I meet. I incorporate my ""Movement for Life"" philosophy into my classes, believing that increasing one's play span is the greatest blessing anyone can have. I currently teach boot camp classes at Dripsweat on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 5:15 and 6:15 PM in Washington Heights, NY, as a way to give back to my community.
